What Have I Been Working On?

November 9, 2009 by aptkane

Well…a couple of things:

First  -

IMG_0407

I have Bandai/Namco to blame for my lack of progress on other projects.  SD Gundam G Generation Wars is quite a handful.  The game encompasses everything from Mobile Suit Gundam through OO Gundam, and is broken up between four senarios – Original Generation (0079 through 0133 V Gundam), Another Generation (G Gundam through Turn A Gundam), New Generation (Seed through OO Gundam) and Ex Generation, which is a series of challange missions.
The game is pretty amazing.  It uses the same engine as G Generation Spirits – but for obvious reasons, the stories are vastly abridged to make room.

Still, I’m about 30 hours in and still loving it.  There’s nothing like Kira Yamato piloting the Strike Noir, joining Garod Ran in the X Divider duking it out with Char in the Nightingale.

The other project I’ve been working on is the Blue Destiny (again).

After much delibertating – I’ve decided to rework the entire model from the ground up.  When I first picked up the conversion kit, it came with the parts to make either the Blue Destiny 1 or 2 (or 3 ) – for some rediculous reason, I decided to toss the BD 2 parts…….I have no idea why. SO…..as an alternative, I’m doing my own take on the Blue Destiny Design.  Consider it a Ver. Apt.
So that’s all for the moment. I’ll be working on the Blue Destiny all week and will have some more updates.   Honestly though, I finally picked up a PS3 this weekend so that should be arriving this week too.  We’ll see what happens.  MS Gundam 0081 is out and I’d like to look into that.

Short Break

October 21, 2009 by aptkane

Hey Gang,

I’m still around, but I’m just taking a short break from working on any projects for a week or so until my Wife and I figure out her immigration stuff.

When I get back, I have a small project to finish which should only take a day or so, then I need to find out how to get arms back on the Blue Destiny.  After that, I’m not sure.  I still have the Albion to start, but I’ve also been throwing around the idea of getting the 1/100 HG Savior Gundam, as I think the next MG I get is either going to be the Hi-Nu Gundam or the Sword Impluse, I’m not sure.
I’ll be back next week!

SD Gundam: G Generation Wars

October 12, 2009 by aptkane

What the??

How did this one slip under the radar?

sd-gundam-g-generation-wars-art

Released for the PS2 and Nintendo Wii – SD Gundam G Generation Wars is the latest addition to the G Generation series and as you can see, encompasses every series from MS Gundam to MS Gundam OO (at least season 1).

I’m definately going to pick this up as soon as I can get an extra $70 bucks, but I’ll have to go with the PS2 version as Nintendo’s latest system updated rendered my WiiKey 2 Modchip useless….*sigh*…which means my copy of Monster Hunter G and Tri is up for sale if anyone’s interested.  I also have a copy of MS Gundam: Pilot’s Locus for Game Cube for sale.

On a side note, I’ll be done with the Aile Strike in a day or so, I really only have the stand left to finish.  I’ve been looking into the Gale Strike, it looks pretty awesome, even though I don’t know too much about the Seed Vs. Astray series yet and even less about the Librarian Faction.  Still, we’ll see what happens.  I have to finish working on the Blue Destiny as well.

Anybody interested in those games, just pm me, we’ll work out a deal.

Ngee had this up on his blog this evening.  Awesome!  I’m glad to see another UC MG kit coming out, and its ABOUT TIME the V Gundam got its own MG.

I hope its released soon!

Blast…

October 8, 2009 by aptkane

Out of Red paint.  Unbelievable.  Just ran out and I’m on the last part of the Aile Strike (the Aile Pack)….so now I have to find time to run to the hobby store to get a bottle of red before I can finish.

In the mean time, I guess I’ll get those decals done on the Strike.

Aile Strike Gundam: WSIP

October 2, 2009 by aptkane

Well, the Strike Gundam is done, I just have to start the Aile Pack and finish the weapons….

IMG_0387Well and add the details.

IMG_0391

I mixed Tamiya Metallic Grey with Testors Gunship grey for the inner frame parts.  It added just the right amount of metallic “shine” to the color.  I tried the same with Tamiya Chrome silver and Testors flat white, but you can’t really see the “shine” unless you see the Gundam in person.

IMG_0392I’m going to get a better shot of it, but I figured out, all you have to do to get the reflective eye cameras is to simply cut the eyes from the sticker included.

More to come soon, the Aile pack shouldn’t take too long.

Strike and Blue Destiny

September 14, 2009 by aptkane

Okay, well, I was going to do the Aile Strike Gundam in a custom color scheme, white legs and arms, but then black and soft orange for the chest (and feet).

But then I saw the Gundam Evolve video of the Strike:

It’s a little…”Matrix-y” but it’s still awesome.  The Evolve videos began as DVDs contained in Perfect Grade kits, but I believe they’re stand alone now.  I have Vol. II which came with my PG Gundam Mk. II.

There’s also this:

So, I guess I’ll be sticking to the regular colors now.

As for Blue Destiny, I’ve bought two new blues and am going to keep working on fixing it up while I work on the Strike.

I’ll keep you posted -

Max Capacity ….again..

September 9, 2009 by aptkane

Yikes.
Once again, I’m out of room.

IMG_0386Not sure what I’m going to do here, but before I get working on the next project, I’ll need to figure something out.

But at least you can see the over head lights I managed to install on the first two shelved (still working on No. 3).

Complete: HG 1/100 GX-9901 Gundam Double X

September 8, 2009 by aptkane

Well, the Double X is complete.

IMG_0368

Now, considering the quality of the kit (knock off), and the extensive modifications done, I’d say over all, I’m very pleased with the final result.

IMG_0385IMG_0369IMG_0370IMG_0371IMG_0383

I ended up using the Beam Machine gun from the X Divider kit I had started (but couldn’t finish because I ended up accidentally throwing away some part panels).  This worked out seems the beam rifle that came with the kit was impossible to fix and make look right.

IMG_0375IMG_0372IMG_0381I used Samuel Decal for the markings.  They worked out awesome.  I’m very happy with them.

So that’s if for now.  I have to figure out what I’m going to build next, the MG Aile Strike Gundam or the Albion….or continue with the Blue Destiny.

Until Next Time -
